The P-mag lab is excited to have Julie Velle visit for the next six weeks.  We look forward to working with her during her visit and in the future on the Gulf of Alaska IODP Expedition 341 records.

Julie Velle is a PhD  student in the Oceanography program at Institut des sciences de la mer de Rimouski (ISMER) at the University of Québec in Rimouski, Canada.

Her research interests include paleomagnetism and using mineral magnetic techniques to reconstruct paleoenvironments.

For her PhD, she is working on the magnetostratigraphy of IODP Expedition 341 drill sites U1418 and U419 from the Gulf of Alaska, and trying to constrain the dynamics of the northwestern Cordilleran Ice Sheet during the late Pleistocene and Holocene using environmental magnetic, geochemical and physical proxies.
